Tapestry Apartments, Kings Cross
The Commission
Four paintings made during the summer and autumn of 2021 from the balcony of a 13th floor apartment near Granary Square. Each captures a different moment: the golden light of a summer afternoon, the quiet of night, the moon rising above the old gasometers. All look south towards St Pancras. The elevated viewpoint transforms a familiar part of London into something almost aerial, with the city stretching out below in layers of rooftops, railway lines, and sky.
